We think there is a lack of more sustainable alternatives in the furniture industry. Mass production and cheap furniture dominate the market. We want to challenge and change this by offering an alternative.
Our goal is that Modly will exist for many generations to come – both our business but above all, our furniture. Making furniture that lasts a life time is the best way to contribute to less environmental impact. Therefore, all parts of a Modly furniture are replaceable and can be easily replaced if damage occurs.
But longevity is not only about the fact that our products are made of solid materials that last and withstand wear and tear over the years. It is also about achieving a timeless and simple Scandinavian design language of high quality.
We believe that careful processing and manufacturing results in careful handling. This is how our products get a long life.
In order to have control and transparency of the entire chain from forest to furniture, we keep the number of partners to a minimum. We do sell our furnitures through retailers and instead deliver our furniture directly from the furniture factory to your home.

Modly furniture consists only of FSC-certified wood from sustainable managed forestry. FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council and is an independent, international membership organization that works for environmentally sound, socially responsible and economically viable use of the world's forests.
Certified companies follow FSC's rules (standards) for forestry and traceability. Those who comply with the rules may label their products with the FSC trademark. The FSC trademark allows consumers and companies to choose wood products that are sourced from responsible forestry, i.e. forestry that takes people and the environment into account.
Modly's operations will always have an impact on the environment. Our aim, however, is to be a better alternative by compensating our carbon footprint and continuously work to reduce our environmental impact.
Currently, we carbon compensate by supporting certified projects in solar energy, as we believe in the importance of quickly moving towards renewable and fossil free energy solutions.

Currently, we base the calculation of our climate impact on the study carried out by RISE - formerly Sweden's research institute. The study looked at the climate impact of a manufactured wooden chair causes. It creates 1.2 kilograms of CO2 per kilogram.
For our operations, we have chosen to count on 1.5 kilograms of CO2 per kilogram - as our attachments are made of metal. This means that a Modly table weighing 36 kilograms – a rectangular kitchen table of standard dimensions with four legs – is estimated to emit 54 kilos of CO2.
The next step is to carry out your own life cycle analysis (LCA). To calculate in detail the environmental impact of our operations and our furnitures. In a life cycle analysis, the entire chain is accounted for – from raw material extraction to production, distribution and waste management.
An important goal at Modly is transparency. We want you as a customer to be able to have full insights over the entire production chain. The origin of the materials, where and how the manufacturing takes place and which certifications we use. To be able to offer the best service with furnitures that we can be proud of.
We are far from done with in tracing the origin of all components down to the smallest component. Here, however, you can find out where we stand today with our table of contents of the furniture's materials, components and their origin and certifications.
To make your Modly furniture last as long as possible, you need to take good care of it. That is why we encourage you to take a good look at our care instructions.
Over time, some parts might be damaged or worn out. That is why all our furniture are designed so that all pieces can be replaced by ordering a new spare part from us.
Our furniture are easy to disassemble and recycle thanks to our decision to work with with screws and not with glue. They can also be handed in for restoration and repair, contact a local furniture restorer and please feel free to contact us if you need any guidance.
